Besan Murukku Recipe | Kadalai Maavu Murukku recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Besan murukku is crispy and crunchy snack made with besan and rice flour. This is instant murukku and can be made in 30 minutes when you have flours ready.  This instant muruku will come handy for Diwali.

My hubby and kids both prefer savory over sweet so this got over in 2 days. I used store bought besan flour and homemade idiyappam flour. Adjust the spices according to your preference. You can use ajwain, sesame or cumin seeds for murukku. It can be made as jar snacks in bulk and kept for two weeks in air tight container.

    • Take besan and rice flour in a bowl.
    • Add red chilli powder, salt and ajwain to it.

You can use cumin seeds or sesame seeds instead of ajwain.
Increase the red chilli powder for more spicy murukku.
You can use little pepper powder or grind green chilli and use too.

We love murukku and this one with chickpea flour and rice flour sounds absolutely delicious. I love your idea of pressing the murruku dough on idiyappam plates so that it can be easily added to the hot oil for frying.

Besan Murukku is called teekhi sev or ganthia in Gujarati. This is one snack that I make whenever we need something spicy and feel like enjoying a fried snack. Like the addition of butter, must try next time I make murukku.

Love this crispy, crunchy murukku! It would make a beautiful savoury snack for Diwali, for sure. I'm sure the addition of ajwain would have elevated the taste of the murukku up by several notches. :)
