Chaat Masala Recipe | How to make Chaat Masala | Homemade Chaat Masala Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. It is aromatic, flavorful, spicy and tangy spice powder used mostly in chaats and other street food recipes. It can be added to salads, raita, butter milk or any curries. Sprinkle little chaat masala on any subzi and it makes it more flavorful.

It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare this masala in home. Unique taste of chaat masala comes from amchur powder and black salt so don’t skip them. There are different recipes which uses different quantities of coriander and cumin seeds. I adapted this recipe from chef pankaj Bhadouria.

Chaat masala is aromatic, flavorful, spicy and tangy spice powder used mostly in chaats and other street food recipes.

Ingredients

  • Cumin seeds 1/4 cup
  • Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  • Ajwain/Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tbsp
  • Hing 1/4 tsp
  • Amchur/Dry mango powder 3-4 tbsp
  • Black salt 1.5 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Dry roast cumin seeds till aromatic
  2. Then roast coriander seeds, pepper and ajwain till fragrant.
  3. Allow it to cool down.
  4. Take salt, hing, amchur powder, black salt and salt in a mixer.
  5. Add roasted ingredients to it.
  6. Grind to fine powder.
  7. Flavorful and aromatic chaat masala is ready.
  8. Store in airtight container and use it in your chaat, curries, raita etc.

Notes

Adjust black salt and Amchur powder as per your preference.

Roast in low flame and make sure not to burn it

Store in airtight container and use clean spoon for use.

Keeps well up to 1-2 months.

How to make Chaat Masala with step by step pictures

Allow it to cool down.

Take salt, hing, amchur powder, black salt and salt in a mixer.

Add roasted ingredients to it.

Grind to fine powder.

Flavorful and aromatic spice powder is ready. Store in airtight container and use it in your chaat, curries, raita etc.
