Ellu Podi Recipe | Sesame seeds idli podi recipe | Sesame seeds lentil powder recipe with step-by-step pictures and instructions. Ellu podi is spicy dry chutney powder made with sesame seeds and lentils. Sesame seeds are called ellu in Tamil. It goes well with idli, dosa and can be served with rice too. Eat them mixed with sesame oil or ghee.
It is so easy and simple to make. Dry roast the sesame seeds, lentils and grind them to a coarse or fine powder. Idli podi is a must for my kids as they are so fond of it and always demand podi for dosa. So I make different variations of idli podi like curry leaves idli podi, kollu podi. Sesame podi is also one among them. I used Sambandi sesame seeds from Idhayam. I used black sesame seeds which is more flavorful but you can use white sesame seeds too.
