Ghee Rice recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Learn how to make aromatic and delicious ghee rice. Ghee rice is simple and flavorful rice made with ghee. It is mild spicy and you can have it with any gravy or simply raita. I cooked as one pot dish in cooker. You can use the normal cooked rice and make ghee rice too.
I skipped onions as my daughter will pick up that out while eating. It is simple and easy to cook recipe for lunch box or any meal. Kids will simply enjoy it. It can be prepared for parties or potluck. This is my second entry to Blogging Marathon under Kids lunch box theme.

Ghee Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- Basmati rice 1 cup
- Green chillies 1
- Cashews handful
- Cinnamon small piece
- Cloves 3-4
- Bay leaf 1
- Ghee 2-3 tbsp
- Garam masala 1/4 tsp
- Water 1 1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves to garnish
Instructions
- Soak the basmati rice for 3 hours. Wash and drain the water and keep it ready.
- Heat ghee and temper with cinnamon and cloves. Then add cashews and saute till golden.
- Now add the slit green chillies and saute it.
- Then add the washed rice and saute for 1-2 minutes without breaking.
- Now add salt and garam masala and mix
- Add 1 1/2 cup of water and mix it nicely
- Check the seasoning and close the lid.
- Cook for one whistle and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Switch off the flame, release the pressure and open the cooker
- Fluff up the rice and mix
- Transfer to serving bowl and serve hot
