Ginger Garlic Paste Recipe | Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Ginger garlic paste is one of the most commonly used ingredient in Indian cooking. It comes handy when you have it in stock while preparing dishes. I never like the taste of store bought paste as it contains lot of preservatives. I always make my batch of ginger garlic paste once in 10 days without any preservatives

If you once prepare in home, you will never go to shops to buy again. You can prepare this easily in 5 minutes. I use small flakes of garlic and use it with skin for making paste so tedious job of peeling garlic is not there. Usually I use proportion of 2:1 ratio of garlic and ginger. My mom add fennel seeds along with ginger and garlic and it gives nice flavor. You can store it in fridge for 2-3 weeks and use it in your dishes.

Ingredients

  • Garlic 100 grams
  • Ginger 50 grams
  • Fennel 2 tsp optional

Instructions

  1. Separate the garlic as individual flakes and wash them if it is dirty.
  2. Peel the skin of ginger, wash them and chop it finely.
  3. Take garlic in mixer
  4. Add ginger and fennel seeds to it.
  5. Grind them smoothly adding few tbsp of water.
  6. Store in air tight container in fridge.
  7. Use the prepared paste in your dishes.

Notes

You can peel the garlic if you wish. I use small flakes of garlic with skin so it is easy to grind.

I use the prepared paste for two weeks. Usually it keeps well up to 1 month.

You can use oil instead of water and salt if you plan to keep the prepared paste for longer time. I don't generally use them.
