Karuveppillai Idli podi Recipe | Curry leaves Idli podi recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Curry leaves idli podi is condiment for idli, dosa or can be had with rice. Idli podi is one of the most common condiment found in any south Indian household. It comes so handy when we are busy and there is no time to prepare any side dishes. My mom always add little dried curry leaves while making idli podi. It makes it so flavorful as well as healthy.

Curry leaves has lot of medicinal benefits and good for hair growth. We always pick and throw the curry leaves added to dishes. Here since we add in powder form we indirectly consume them. Prepare big batch of idli podi and it keeps well for 3 months in room temperature. Always make sure you use dry spoon while using. Challenge for last month in Shhh Secretly cooking challenge FB group is Tamilnadu cuisine. Being born and bought up in Tamilnadu I have very fond memories of different veg and non veg cuisine. Tamilnadu cuisine is so vast and there are lot of dishes which I am yet to explore and try. I am down with fever for last one week so posting this very late.

My partner for this month was very talented blogger Priya Mahesh who blogs at at200deg.  She is so friendly person and also from Tamilnadu. She has some amazing collection of recipes and travel stories in her blog. Check out her space for more interesting recipes. We discussed about different traditional recipes from Tamilnadu and I gave her Hing and raw rice  as secret ingredients and she made delicious thiruvadarai kootu.  She gave me Hing and urad dal as my secret ingredients and I made this healthy karuveppillai idli podi.

A favourite at my home, we make karuveppalai podi at least once a month. However we have it with rice, I have not thought of taking it with idli! Will try it the next time I make idli.,

You said it right Narmadha, curry leaves are usually discarded from the cuurys and stews, adding to podi powder is a great way of using these.. sounds so flavourful , will love to top it on dal rice to!!

I love to incorporate curry leaves in my recipes in powder form or else it generally gets thrown away. I am loving this idli podi recipe with curry leaves, so healthy and looks flavorful.

I'm truly amazed at the variety of podi one can make. These spice powders are so useful when fresh ingredients are not available. I just got a whole 'branch' of curry leaves from my sabjiwala, I know exactly how to use it up. And your suggestion of adding a little bit of karuveppillai idli podi in the idli batter is what I'd like to try when I make idlis next time.

Curry leaves that have lots of nutrients always get thrown away while eating. This is a great recipe to have curry leaves.
