Knol khol Poriyal | Kohlrabi Stir fry recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Knol khol poriyal is simple south Indian style poriyal made with kohlrabi. Kohlrabi is called as knol khol in tamil. It belongs to cabbage family and rich source of Vitamin C. We make sambar, curry or poriyal with knol khol.
It is so simple and quick side dish which gets ready in 15 minutes. It goes well with rice. Though we get this vegetable all through the year, we get lot of fresh ones during Winter. So do try this easy poriyal when you get hold of kohlrabi next time.

I have bookmarked her tempting Spinach capsicum fried rice to try soon. My partner for this month is Sasmita who blogs at firsttimercook. I gave her garam masala and turmeric powder and she made the innovative panner curry with cauliflower leaves . She gave me kohlrabi and red chilli and I made this simple stir fry.

Knol khol Poriyal | Kohlrabi Stir fry
Ingredients
- Kohlrabi 300 grams
- Onion 1
- Grated coconut 3-4 tbsp
- Oil 2 tsp
- Mustard ½ tsp
- Urad dal ½ tsp
- Red chilli 2-3
- Salt as required
- Curry leaves few
Instructions
- Peel the skin, wash and chop the kohlrabi.
- Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, red chilli and curry leaves.
- Once it splutters, add the finely chopped onions and saute for 1 minute.
- Then add chopped kohlrabi and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Then add salt and sprinkle water.
- Close and allow it to cook.
- Once it is cooked and water is fully absorbed, open the lid and add grated coconut.
- Mix together and knol khol poriyal is ready.
- Serve it with rice or roti.

How to make Knol khol Poriyal with step by step pictures
