Lemon Rice Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Lemon rice is one of the popular variety rice from South India. It is one of the easy and simple variety rice which can be prepared in 15 minutes. I find it easy to prepare Lemon rice than tamarind rice as there is no grinding part and very simple. I make it for lunch box for my husband with egg or potato gravy.
My mom used to give us to school/College with potato fry, one of my favorite combination. It is one of the best travel food. When you are running out of time on busy mornings, Lemon Rice will come handy. We just need few ingredients and there is no cutting or grinding work. This is my third entry to kids Lunch box series.

Lemon Rice Recipe | Variety Rice | Quick Lunch box and Travel food
Ingredients
- Cooked Rice 3 cups
- Lemon 2
- Oil 1.5 tbsp
- Mustard 1/2 tsp
- Urad Dal 1/2 tsp
- Channa Dal 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Hing 1/4 tsp
- Salt as required
- Red chilli 2
- Green chilli 1
- Peanuts 2 tbsp optional
- Curry Leaves handful
Instructions
- Take two medium sized lemon and extract the juice
- Filter the juice and keep it ready
- Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, channa dal, red chilli and curry leaves
- Once it browns add the finely chopped green chilli.
- Then add the extracted lemon juice
- Add turmeric powder, hing and salt and mix nicely
- Switch off the flame immediately. Don't allow to boil much.
- Allow it to cool down
- Take cooked rice in big bowl.
- Add the lemon rice paste and mix it nicely
- Check the seasoning and add salt if required
- Serve the Lemon rice

How to make Lemon Rice with step by step pictures
