    Marinara Sauce Recipe | Marinara Sauce with fresh tomatoes | Pasta Sauce recipe with step-by-step pictures and instructions. Marinara sauce is a tomato-based pasta sauce made with fresh tomatoes, garlic, onions, and herbs. It is so flavorful and far better than store-bought sauce. You can use this for your pasta, pizza, or as a spread for sandwiches and dips for starters. 

    It is a little different from pizza sauce in terms of consistency and procedure. Both can be used interchangeably. If you are making pasta often, this sauce will come in handy and you can make pasta quickly. It keeps good for 1 week in the fridge and 2-3 weeks in the freezer. The color of the sauce depends on the type of tomatoes you use. Let's quickly check out the recipe.

    Marinara Sauce Recipe | Marinara Sauce with fresh tomatoes | Pasta Sauce

    Marinara sauce is a tomato-based pasta sauce made with fresh tomatoes, garlic, onions, and herbs.
    Prep Time 5 minutes minutes
    Cook Time 20 minutes minutes
    Total Time 25 minutes minutes
    Servings 1 cup

    Ingredients

    • Tomatoes 6 small or 300 grams
    • Onion 1 medium
    • Garlic 6-7
    • Salt as required
    • Pepper powder ½ tsp
    • Red chilli flakes 1 tsp
    • Italian seasoning 1-2 tsp
    • Olive oil 1 tbsp

    Instructions

    • Wash and slit the tomatoes
    • Blanch them in water 5-7 minutes till outer layer is separates
    • Remove the skin of the tomatoes.
    • Mash them roughly with hands or masher. Alternatively, you can blend them in a mixer.
    • Heat oil and add finely chopped garlic.
    • Then add finely chopped onions and saute till golden.
    • Next, add the mashed tomatoes and cook for few minutes.
    • Then add salt, red chilli flakes, pepper powder, and Italian seasoning.
    • Close and allow it to boil for 5-7 minutes.
    • Check the seasoning and switch off the flame.
    • Allow it to cool down and take in a mixer.
    • Pulse it a couple of times.
    • Delicious marinara sauce is ready. Store in a clean container and use them as required.

    Notes

    Adjust the seasonings according to your preference.
    You can add pinch of sugar in the end.
    Consistency of the sauce should be little chunky and not very smooth.
    If you are using canned tomatoes you can skip the blanching step

    How to make Marinara Sauce with step by step pictures
