Pineapple Rasam Recipe | Annasi Rasam | How to make Pineapple Rasam recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Pineapple rasam is a flavorful and delicious rasam served in South Indian weddings. Rasam is integral part of our daily menu and I make it at least 3-4 times a week.

We love to eat it with rice or drink as soup. Our family love pineapple flavor a lot be it in spicy pineapple tikka, sweet pineapple kesari or in salads. Serve tangy and spicy pineapple rasam with hot rice and papad.

My partner for this month is Preethi Sridhar whose blog is treasure trove to so many North Indian and baking recipes. I bookmarked her baked kodo millet to try soon. I gave her cloves and coriander seeds and she made mouthwatering kutchi Dabeli. She gave me hing and curry leaves and I made this flavorful pineapple rasam.

Ingredients

  • Pineapple 3/4 cup chopped
  • Tomato 2
  • Rasam powder 2 tsp
  • Garlic 4
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Cooked Dal 1/2 cup optional
  • Coriander leaves 2-3 tbsp
  • Ghee 2 tsp
  • Hing 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves handful
  • Red chilli 2
  • Mustard 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take 1/2 cup pineapple in mixer.
  2. Grind it to smooth paste and then add tomatoes.
  3. Grind it together and keep it aside.
  4. Crush garlic in mortar and pestle and keep it ready
  5. Heat ghee and temper with mustard, red chilli, hing and curry leaves.
  6. Then add the grounded pineapple and tomato paste
  7. Then add water and cooked dal to it.
  8. Next add turmeric powder, rasam powder and salt.
  9. Add remaining chopped pineapple to it.
  10. When it comes to boil add the crushed garlic and finely chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  11. Delicious pineapple rasam is ready.

Notes

Don't allow the rasam to boil too much. When it comes to just boil, switch off the flame.

Instead of rasam powder, you can add jeera and pepper while grinding pineapple.

Adjust the consistency of the rasam according to your preference.

Tempering in ghee gives nice taste to the rasam. You can use oil if you don't prefer ghee.
