Poha Mixture
Poha mixture is a healthy and nutritious snack as we roast poha in little oil. It took just 20 minutes to make this aval mixture. You need to just toss up all ingredients and poha chivda is ready. It keeps well for one week to ten days.
Diwali is nearing and if you are looking for some quick and easy recipes, you can surely try this mixture. I used thin variety of poha. But you can use medium or thick variety too. Thick ones may take little longer to get roasted.
You can different nuts, coconut, peanuts, roasted gram dal, raisins, coconut or any toppings as you like. This year I am trying all easy and quick recipes for Diwali as I am running short of time with my busy work schedule and taking care of kids. Ingredients
- Poha
- Nuts - Badam, cashews and peanuts
- Roasted gram dal
- Coconut
- Salt
- Oil
- Hing
- Spices - Red chilli powder, turmeric powder
- Curry leaves

How to make Poha Mixture with step-by-step pictures
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan.
Add poha to it and stir continuously.
Roast the poha till crispy and crunchy. Make sure you don't burn them.
Transfer them to bowl and allow to cool down. Take all the ingredients and keep it ready. Heat 1 tbsp oil and add the peanuts, roasted gram dal, coconut, badam and cashews.
Fry them till golden
Add few curry leaves and switch off the flame.
Add this to roasted poha.
Then add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and hing
Toss them nicely till combined.
Poha Chivda is ready.
Enjoy them as evening snacks with Tea
Expert Tips
- Make sure to stir continuously while roasting poha as it gets burnt quickly.
- I roasted 1 cup poha at a time and used 1 tbsp oil for each.
- You can roast the nuts one by one. But to save time I roasted all of them together.
- You can add some sugar for sweetness. Generally we don't prefer sweet so I skipped it.
- You can deep fry the poha too.
- I added very little red chilli powder. Adjust the spices according to your preference.
- You can add any nuts, raisins or toppings of your choice to mixture.

Ingredients
- Poha 2 cups
- Oil 3 tbsp
- Cashews ¼ cup
- Badam ¼ cup
- Peanuts ¼ cup

- coconut pieces ⅛ cup
- Curry leaves handful
- Salt as required
- Red chilli powder ¼ tsp
- Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
- Hing 2 pinches
