Pudalangai Chutney Recipe | Snake Gourd Chutney | Podalangai Thogayal recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Pudalangai chutney is simple chutney recipe using snake gourd, onions, spices and tamarind. It is easy and quick recipe which can be prepared in 15 minutes. It goes well with Idli/Dosa. I always like to use veggies in hidden form so my kids or hubby won't complain and eat it. You can never guess the vegetable in the chutney. Are you bored of making kootu or poriyal with snake gourd. Pudalangai Chutney Recipe | Snake Gourd Chutney | Podalangai Thogayal
Ingredients
- Snake gourd ½ cup chopped
- Onions ½ cup chopped
- Garlic 2
- Urad dal 1 tbsp
- Chana dal 1 tbsp
- Red chilli 3-4
- Tamarind paste 1.5 tbsp or small ball size tamarind
- Oil 2 tsp
- Curry leaves few optional
To temper
- Oil 1 tsp
- Mustard ½ tsp
- Urad dal ½ tsp
- Red chilli 1
- Curry leaves few
Instructions
- Wash and cut the snake gourd and keep it ready
- Heat oil and temper with urad dal, chana dal and red chilli
- Once it browns add the chopped onions and garlic and give a quick saute.
- Then add pudalangai and sure for 5 minutes till it is soft and cooked.
- Then add handful curry leaves and switch off the flame
- Once it cools down transfer to mixer along with tamarind.
- Grind to smooth paste adding few drops of water.
- Transfer to bowl and add water to adjust to consistency you like.
- Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, red chilli and curry leaves.
- Once it browns transfer to the chutney.
- Pudalangai chutney is ready.
- Serve with idli/dosa

How to make Snake Gourd Chutney with step by step pictures
