Rainbow Cake Recipe | Easy Rainbow Layer Cake | Birthday Cake Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Learn how to make delicious, colorful layered Rainbow Cake. Celebration Cake with 6 layers of different colors and frosted with whipped cream frosting. I made this for my daughter second birthday and got some good appreciations from friends. Even some asked me if I am taking orders. Though I am not too good in frosting, this came out so good with simple decorations on top with gems and drizzles.
I used my wheat flour cake sweetened with brown sugar as base. Use gel colors or any natural coloring too. Since I planned suddenly to make rainbow cake I used colors only. You can use different vegetables for coloring instead of artificial colors. It took me whole day to make this cake as I was baking one layer at a time. I have small oven and have only one round shape mould. If you have 2-3 baking tins of same size, you can bake them parallel in oven and stove too. It took me 40 minutes to bake one layer cake and 20 minutes to cool down. It was totally worth the effort and kids will enjoy them. Below is my party table

This is long pending post as I made this in August. When I was thinking to post something special for New year thought to share this recipe. 2019 is wonderful year where I learned lot of new things and faced lot of challenges. Started my work after a long break and learning to balance work, blogging and personal life. It gave me lot of new friends through various blogging groups and that keeps me active. Ingredients
- Wheat flour 2 cups
- Milk 1 1/3 cup
- Sugar 1 1/4 cup
- Vinegar/lime juice 1 tbsp
- Oil 1/2 cup
- Baking powder 1 tsp
- Baking soda 3/4 tsp
- Vanilla essence 1 tbsp
- Color few drops
- Water 1 cup
- Sugar 2 tbsp
- Colors(red, yellow, green, blue, pink) few drops
- Whipped Cream frosting as required
- Gems for decoration
- Condensed milk for drizzling
- Sprinkles as required
Instructions
- Take wheat flour, baking powder and baking soda in sieve
- Sieve them for 6-7 times and keep it ready.
- Take milk in a bowl and add vinegar.
- Mix it nicely and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
- In the frothy milk add sugar, oil and vanilla essence and mix it nicely till sugar is dissolved.
- Add flour in batches and mix
- Mix nicely without lumps till everything is combined
- Divide them equally into three parts.
- Add colors to each part and mix them.
- Pour one batter in greased tin and tap on the sides.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C for ten minutes and bake in the same temperature for 35-40 minutes till toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool them in wire rack.
- Repeat the same and bake all the layers.
- Dissolve sugar in water and use as sugar syrup for cakes.
- Make the whipped cream frosting and keep it ready.
- Take cake board and apply little frosting on the top and place the first layer of cake.
- Drizzle some sugar syrup on the top and apply the cream.
- Place the next layer of cake and repeat the same.
- Repeat the same for all layers and cover it with frosting.
- Mix different colors in condensed milk and drizzle on the sides of the cake.
- Decorate with gems on the top and sprinkles on the sides.
- Colorful Rainbow Cake is ready
Notes
Use any colors of your choice. I used cocoa powder, kesari color, green, blue, yellow and red.
Make sure to cool the cake completely before frosting.
You can prepare and keep the cake in fridge previous day.
Sugar syrup helps to keep the cake moist.
How to make Rainbow Cake with step by step pictures
