Rava Dosa | Onion Rava Dosa | Instant Crispy Rava Dosa recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Rava dosa is one of the popular varieties of dosa which can be prepared instantly. There is no need of fermentation like normal dosa batter. Rava is used along with rice flour and maida to prepare this dosa. There is no grinding part too. We can just mix everything together and prepare the dosa instantly. We can prepare different varieties of rava dosa with the same batter.
Rava dosa is one of my favorite dosa and I always order rava dosa in restaurants. Consistency of the batter is very important to get the thin crispy dosa. Batter should be very much watery. Batter will be thick and while preparing we can add more water and spread the dosa in kadai. It also take time to cook and we need cook in low flame to get nice crispy rava dosa. I seasoned with onions, green chillies, pepper and cumin and prepared onion rava dosa. We can prepare masala rava dosa or make it plain. You can serve it with sambar or chutney.

Serves 4-5 people
Rava dosa is one of the popular varieties of dosa which can be prepared instantly.
Ingredients
- Rava 1 cup
- Rice flour 1 cup
- Maida 1/2 cup
- Salt as required
- water as required
- Mustard 1/2 tsp
- Onion 1 big
- Cumin 1 tsp
- Pepper 1 tsp
- Green chillies 1 bug finely chopped
- Ginger minced 1 tsp finely chopped
- Coriander leaves to garnish
- Curry leaves few
- Oil 2 tsp
Instructions
- Take rava, rice flour and maida in a mixing bowl.
- Add salt and water to it and mix
- Mix to form smooth batter without lumps and keep it aside. Batter can be little thick now as we will dilute later
- Finely chop the ginger, green chillies and onions.
- Heat oil and temper with cumin, pepper and mustard.
- Once it browns add the finely chopped onions, ginger and green chillies
- Saute nicely for few minutes and garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
- Switch off the flame and transfer the contents to batter.
- Add more water to batter to make it thin.
- Heat kadai and spread the thin batter from edges and fill the gaps.
- Drizzle oil and cook in low flame till it is golden and crisp.
- Flip the dosa and cook for few seconds.
- Serve onion rava dosa hot with chutney or sambar
Notes
Batter will tend to become thick after sometime. Add water to adjust consistency as and when required
Batter should be very thin to get nice golden and crispy dosa
Keep stirring the batter and maintain the thin flowing consistency of the batter
Always serve the dosa hot to enjoy the crispier texture.
You can grate some carrot or vegetables in the batter or make masala rava dosa too.

How to make Onion Rava Dosa with step by step pictures
