Pithas are a variety of food similar to pancakes, dumplings or fritters, originating from the Indian subcontinent, common in Bangladesh and India. Pitha can be sweet or savoury and usually made from a dough or batter, which is then steamed, fried or griddled. They are typically eaten as a snack with chai, or as treats during special occasions. SHHH COOKING SECRETLY CHALLENGE

The challenge for this month in Shhh Secretly cooking challenge FB group is Odia Pitha suggested by Sasmita. She has so many traditional Odia recipes in her blog like Biri Mandha pitha. My partner for this month is Preethi who is another amazing blogger. I have bookmarked her interesting Dragon fruit jujubes to try soon.

In Orissa sweet pithas are prepared during festivals. Since there are not many takers for sweet, I choose the savoury version which everyone enjoys at home. I gave her cardamom and ghee and she made Odia Amba Poda Pitha. She gave me urad dal and green chilli and I made this savoury poda pitha.
