Spinach Pulao Recipe | Palak Pulao Recipe | How to make Spinach Pulao recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Spinach Pulao is healthy and nutritious one pot recipe which can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. Perfect way to include greens for kids. I always grind them and use it in many dishes as kids will pick them. You can chop them and use it too. This can be packed for lunch box with simple raita.
Palak is one of the most common greens I buy as it is easy to clean too. You can make variety of dishes using palak like simple palak kootu or make Palak Poori or Hara bhara kebab for kids. I have already shared another version of Spinach rice. These kind of one pot recipes comes handy and ban be prepared quickly. You can add some peas or vegetables along with spinach.

Spinach Pulao Recipe | Palak Pulao Recipe | How to make Spinach Pulao
Ingredients
- Spinach/Palak 1.5 cups
- Basmati rice 1 cup
- Onion 1
- Green chilli 2
- Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
- Mint leaves ¼ cup optional
- Coriander leaves 2 tbsp optional
- Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
- Garam masala ¼ tsp
- Salt 1 tsp or as required
- Oil 2 tsp
- Ghee 2 tsp
- Bay leaves 1
- Cinnamon small stick
- Cardamom 1
- Cloves 3
- Water 1.5 cups
Instructions
- Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep it ready.
- Wash the greens spinach, mint and coriander leaves. Take them in mixer. Add green chilli to it.
- Grind them to smooth puree adding few drops of water.
- Heat ghee and oil. Temper with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bay leaf.
- Once it browns add the finely chopped onions and saute for few seconds.
- Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
- Then add the spinach puree and allow it to boil.
- Then add salt, turmeric powder and garam masala. Saute nicely for 5 mins.
- Then add water and allow it to boil.
- Once it boils add the washed rice.
- Chek for seasoning and close the lid. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and 5 minutes in low flame.
- Once the pressure releases open the lid and gently mix the rice.
- Yummy and delicious spinach rice is ready.
