Thinai Pongal Recipe | Foxtail Millet Pongal Recipe | Millet Ven Pongal recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Thinai Pongal is healthy variation of normal Ven/Kara Pongal made with foxtail millet instead of rice. Method of preparation is almost similar to ven pongal only the quantity of water varies. Foxtail millet takes more time to cook compared to other millets. Perfect and healthy option for quick and easy breakfast.
Foxtail millet is rich in fibre, protien and low in fat. It is gluten free grain which helps to keep blood pressure and diabetics under control and also has high anti oxidants and helps in weight loss. It is very easy to substitute millet with rice in any recipes. Personally I don't prefer eating millets separately but will like to add to these kind of recipes like pongal, sambar rice, pulao where we won't find much difference in taste. Let's see how to make this quick and easy breakfast recipe.
