Vendakkai Mor Kuzhambu Recipe | Okra Buttermilk Curry Recipe | Mor Kulambu recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Vendakkai mor kuzhambu is spicy and tangy yogurt based gravy made with lady’s finger/okra/vendakkai. There are so many variations and each house hold will have its own version of mor kuzhambu. We can add any vegetables of our choice or make it plain without adding any vegetable.

I am not too fond of mor kuzhambu till it tried this recipe from Home cooking. Mild spicy, tangy and so flavorful with roasted okra. This method is so simple and easy with minimum ingredients and curry get ready in less than 30 minutes. Don’t boil too much after adding curd mixture and also don’t reheat the curry. Would love to have it with hot rice, some potato fry and appalam. Let’s check how to make this flavorful and delicious mor kuzhambu.

Ingredients

  • Ladies finger/Vendakkai 100 grams
  • Sour curd 2 cups
  • Oil 1.5 tbsp
  • Mustard 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Red chilli 3
  • Hing 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Salt as required
  • To grind
  • Grated coconut 2 tbsp
  • Green chilli 2
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Shallots 4
  • Garlic 2
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Add 2 tsp oil and roast the okra
  2. Roast them nicely till golden and remove from the pan.
  3. Take all items listed under to grind in mixer
  4. Grind to smooth paste adding little water.
  5. Whisk the curd nicely.
  6. Add the grounded masala to curd.
  7. Mix nicely with whisk
  8. Now heat oil and temper with mustard, cumin seeds, hing, red chilli and curry leaves.
  9. Add the roasted okra to it
  10. Add the required salt
  11. Finally add the curd masala mixture.
  12. Allow it to just come to boil and switch off the flame.
  13. Delicious vendakkai mor kuzhambu is ready.

Notes

Use sour curd and don't reheat or allow it to boil more.

Adjust the green chilli according to your taste.

Enjoy it with hot rice and some fry.
