Raw Jackfruit Masala

Raw jackfruit masala is a delicious curry prepared with tender jackfruit pieces, onion, tomato and spices.

Ingredients

  • Raw jackfruit 1 cup heaped
  • Onion 1 big
  • Tomato 1 medium
  • Green chilli 1
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Fennel seeds ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves handful
  • Red Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Garam Masala ½ tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp finely chopped

Instructions

  • Remove the skin, cut, and wash the raw jackfruit.
  • Take it in a pressure cooker along with little salt.
  • Pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles.
  • Once the pressure is released, drain the water and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and temper with fennel seeds and curry leaves.
  • Then add finely chopped onions and saute for a minute.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and slit green chilli to it.
  • Then add finely chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
  • Next add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and garam masala to it.
  • Sprinkle little water and allow it to boil for a few minutes.
  • Then add the cooked jackfruit along with little water.
  • Close and cook it for 3-4 minutes till the masala is nicely coated with the jack fruit.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  • Delicious raw jackfruit masala is ready.

Notes

You can serve it with phulkas or rice.
Adjust the spices according to your preference.
