Basic Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe | Vanilla Sponge Cake

Learn how to make basic vanilla sponge cake which is so soft and fluffy

Ingredients

  • Maida 2 cups
  • Sugar 1 ½ cup
  • Butter ½ cup
  • Baking powder 2 tsp
  • Vanilla essence 3 TSP
  • Eggs 4
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Salt a pinch

Instructions

  • Sieve maida, baking powder and salt for 2-3 times and keep it aside.
  • Take milk and butter in oven safe bowl.
  • Microwave them for 30-40 seconds till butter melts
  • Take eggs in a bowl
  • Add sugar to it.
  • Beat it nicely till it is reaches ribbon consistency
  • Add flour in batches and beat it till it combined
  • Then add butter milk mixture and vanilla essence
  • Mix it nicely to form a smooth batter without lumps
  • Prepare the baking tin with butter and sprinkle some flour.
  • Pour the cake mixture to baking tin and tap the sides to remove any air.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake in the same temperature for 45-50 minutes
  • Remove from oven and cool the cake completely in wire rack and slice them.
  • Enjoy spongy cake with Tea/Coffee

Notes

Always use room temperature eggs for baking.
You can add walnuts, tutti frutti or any nuts of your choice
Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting to get neat slices
