Chicken Tikka Recipe | Easy Chicken Tikka recipe

Chicken tikka is spicy chicken starter where boneless chicken pieces are marinated with spices and baked, grilled or cooked in stove

Ingredients

  • Boneless Chicken 400 grams
  • Onions 1 cubed
  • Capsicum ½ cubed
  • Butter for brushing

First marination

  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder ½ TSP
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Second marination

  • Curd 4 tbsp
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder ¼ tsp
  • Kasturi methi 1 tsp
  • Pinch of food color optional

Instructions

  • Cut the boneless chicken as cubes, wash and keep it ready.
  • Cut the onions and capsicum and keep it ready.
  • Mix the items listed under first marination with chicken and keep it aside for 15 minutes
  • Mix all the ingredients under second marination as thick paste. Use hung curd or Greek yogurt. You can prepare hung curd by putting normal curd in muslin cloth to drain all water.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the thick paste and marinate nicely.
  • Add the cubed onions and capsicum also to the chicken and mix nicely.
  • Chicken should be marinated for min of one hour. You can marinate overnight for good results.
  • Line the baking tray with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 225°C for 20 mins.
  • Arrange the chicken and vegetables in skewers alternatively and bake in the same temperature for 20 to 25 minutes till chicken is nicely grilled. Flip the chicken once in ten minutes to cook evenly.
  • Brush it with butter five minutes before taking out of oven for nice glaze and flavor.
  • Serve chicken tikkas hot with green chutney .

Notes

Baking time will vary depending on size of chicken pieces and oven.
If you are marinating chicken overnight add the vegetables to marination one hour before grilling as onions will leave water if marinated longer.
You can cook them on stove top in a pan also if you don't have oven.
