Soya Chunks Biryani Recipe | Meal Maker Biryani | Soya Biryani

Soya Chunks Biryani is easy and delicious one pot biryani prepared using soya chunks in pressure cooker.

Ingredients

  • Basmati Rice 1.5 cups
  • Soya Chunks 1.5 cups
  • Onions 1 big
  • Tomato 1 medium
  • Green chilli 1
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder ⅓ tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Mint leaves ½ tightly packed
  • Curd 3 tbsp
  • Water 3 cups + Extra for soaking soya
  • Lemon juice from ½ lemon
  • Salt as required
  • To Temper
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Ghee 1 tbsp
  • Bay leaves 1
  • Cinnamon small
  • Cardamom 1
  • Marati moggu 1
  • Star anise 1

Instructions

  • Soak soya chunks in hot water. Drain and squeeze excess water and keep it ready.
  • Soak basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  • Heat ghee, oil and temper with ingredients given under to temper
  • Add onions and slit green chillies and saute till golden.
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
  • Then add the chopped mint leaves and saute for min.
  • Next add chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
  • Then add soaked soya chunks.
  • Now add all masalas like red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt.
  • Finally add curd to it.
  • Saute nicely for 4-5 minutes.
  • Then add water and allow it to boil.
  • Once it boils add the soaked rice and close the cooker.
  • Pressure cook for 1 whistle in medium and 5 minutes in low flame or two whistles whichever is coming first.
  • Once the pressure releases open the lid and squeeze lemon juice and gently mix.
  • Delicious soya chunks biryani is ready.

Notes

You can cook in open pot method using 1:2 ratio of rice and water.
Increase the spiciness according to your preference. This is mild spicy suitable for kids.
