Aloo Paratha Recipe | Punjabi Aloo Paratha | Stuffed Aloo Paratha

Aloo Paratha is whole wheat flat bread stuffed with spicy potatoes.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour 1 cup
  • Salt as required
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Water as required

Stuffing

  • Potatoes 4 medium
  • Red chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Garam masala ¼ tsp
  • Cumin powder ½ tsp
  • Chaat Masala ¼ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Green chilli 1 finely chopped
  • Oil/Ghee for drizzling

Instructions

  • Take wheat flour in bowl, add salt and oil.
  • Mix it nicely with hands
  • Then add water little by little and knead to form dough.
  • Add little oil now and knead for 7-10 minutes till dough is soft and smooth.
  • Cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • Wash and take potatoes in pressure cooker. Pressure cook them for 3-4 whistles.
  • Once it cools down, peel the potatoes.
  • Mash them finely with any lumps.
  • Add red chilli powder, green chilli, garam masala, cumin powder, chaat masala and salt to mashed potatoes.
  • Mix them nicely till everything is combined.
  • Potato stuffing is ready.
  • Take small balls, roll them as small circle.
  • Place the stuffing in the middle.
  • Bring all the edges and seal them
  • Now roll them like chapati sprinkling little flour.
  • Heat kadai and place the rolled paratha. Drizzle oil on the top.
  • Flip them and cook on both sides till golden.
  • Repeat the same for rest of the dough..
  • Serve them hot with raita, curd, pickle or any gravy

Notes

You can skip green chilli when making for kids.
Add finely chopped mint and coriander leaves for more flavor.
You can use amchur powder instead of chaat masala.
Add ghee while cooking for more flavor.
There should not be any moisture in the stuffing so it is easy to roll them.
Adjust spices according to your preference.
