Besan Ribbon Pakoda | Ribbon Pakoda Recipe | Ola Pakoda Recipe

Ribbon pakoda is crispy and crunchy snack made during Diwali.

Ingredients

  • Besan flour 1 cup
  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • Fried gram flour/ pottukadalai powder ½ cup optional
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Hing ¼ tsp
  • Hot oil 2 tbsp
  • Water 1 cup + 2 tbsp or as required

Instructions

  • Take all the ingredients except water and oil in a bowl.
  • Mix it nicely and add oil
  • Then add water little by little and form a dough.
  • Knead to form a smooth dough
  • Grease the mould with oil and take dough in that
  • Use ribbon shape plate for making it.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Once the oil is hot, test by dropping little batter and check if it comes to top.
  • Press the dough in circular form.
  • Flip the sides and cook till it is crisp and bubbles in oil subside.
  • Drain in kitchen towel.
  • Break the ribbon pakoda and store in airtight container.
  • Enjoy with Tea/Coffee

Notes

Can add cumin/ ajwain to the dough.
You can skip fried gram flour but it will reduce the crunchiness.
Since kids will eat I added less red chilli powder. You can add up to 2 tsp too for more spiciness.
Dough should be neither too firm nor too sticky
To make fried gram flour, just powder it in mixer and sieve them and use it.
