Ribbon pakoda is crispy and crunchy snack made during Diwali.

Ingredients
Besan flour 1 cup
Rice flour 1 cup
Fried gram flour/ pottukadalai powder ½ cup optional
Salt 1 tsp
Red chilli powder ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Hing ¼ tsp
Hot oil 2 tbsp
Water 1 cup + 2 tbsp or as required
Instructions
Take all the ingredients except water and oil in a bowl.
Mix it nicely and add oil
Then add water little by little and form a dough.
Knead to form a smooth dough
Grease the mould with oil and take dough in that
Use ribbon shape plate for making it.
Heat oil in a kadai.
Once the oil is hot, test by dropping little batter and check if it comes to top.
Press the dough in circular form.
Flip the sides and cook till it is crisp and bubbles in oil subside.
Drain in kitchen towel.
Break the ribbon pakoda and store in airtight container.
Enjoy with Tea/Coffee
Notes
Can add cumin/ ajwain to the dough.You can skip fried gram flour but it will reduce the crunchiness. Since kids will eat I added less red chilli powder. You can add up to 2 tsp too for more spiciness.Dough should be neither too firm nor too stickyTo make fried gram flour, just powder it in mixer and sieve them and use it.
