Broken Wheat Biryani Recipe | Samba Godhumai Biryani | Dhaliya Biryani Recipe

It is quick, easy and one pot recipe made with broken wheat.

Ingredients

  • Broken Wheat ½ cup
  • Veggies 1 cup mixed
  • Onion 1 small
  • Tomato 1
  • Green chilli 2
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Ginger ½ crushed
  • Red Chilli powder ¾ tsp
  • Coriander powder ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder ¼ tsp
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala ½ tsp
  • Water 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Ghee ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tsp

To Temper

  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Cloves 2
  • Cardamom 1
  • Cinnamon small piece
  • Star anise 1

Instructions

  • Heat oil and temper with ingredients listed under to temper in pressure cooker.
  • Then add finely chopped onions and slit green chillies and saute for a min
  • Now add crushed ginger and garlic paste.
  • Then add tomatoes and saute till mushy
  • Then add veggies and give a quick saute.
  • Then add all spice powders mentioned above and saute for few mins.
  • Next add curd and saute nicely.
  • Then add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Next add broken wheat and give a quick saute
  • Finally add water and allow it to boil.
  • Close the lid and pressure cook for one whistle.
  • Once the pressure releases, open the lid and squeeze lemon juice and drizzle ghee and mix.
  • Delicious Broken Wheat Biryani is ready. Enjoy them with raita or any curry.

Notes

I used cabbage, carrot, beans and potato. You can use other veggies like cauliflower, peas, paneer and mushroom.
Adjust the spices according to your preference.
You can cook in pan also. Close and cover till it is done.
You can use 1.5 tsp of ginger garlic paste instead of using ginger and garlic separately
