Egg Thokku | Muttai Thokku | Spicy Egg Masala

Egg thokku is simple egg side dish where hard boiled eggs are cooked in onion tomato paste.

Ingredients

  • Egg 3
  • Onions 3
  • Tomato 1
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • Green chillies 1
  • Salt ½ tsp or as required
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

To temper

  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Mustard ½ tsp
  • Urad dal ½ tsp

Instructions

  • Take three eggs in pressure cooker along with water. Add a pinch of salt.
  • Pressure cook for one whistle.
  • Peel the skin of eggs and make slits and keep it ready.
  • Finely chop onions, tomatoes and slit green chillies
  • Heat oil and temper with mustard and urad dal.
  • Once it browns add the finely chopped onions and slit green chillies and saute for 1 minute.
  • Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
  • Add the tomatoes and saute till mushy
  • Then add all masalas along with salt.
  • Add little water and allow it to boil till raw smell of masalas goes and all water is absorbed
  • Add the slit eggs and mix with masala.
  • Switch off and garnish with coriander leaves
  • Delicious and yummy egg masala is ready.

Notes

Adjust the spices according to your taste.
You can even cut the boiled eggs and add to masala
You can boil the eggs in pan for 15 minutes instead of doing in pressure cooker
