Egg Thokku | Muttai Thokku | Spicy Egg Masala recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Egg thokku is simple egg side dish where hard-boiled eggs are cooked in onion tomato paste. It goes well with rice, chapati and roti. This is one of the most common side dish I make in home. We can make this yummy egg masala within 30 minutes.
There are so many variations we can make to this base recipe. We can add pepper powder instead of red chilli powder to make pepper masala. You can increase or skip the green chillies. You need to sauté the onion tomato masala nicely for good taste. Enjoy this with hot steamed rice or roti.

How to make Egg Thokku with step by step pictures
Take three eggs in pressure cooker along with water. Add a pinch of salt.
Pressure cook for one whistle.
Peel the skin of eggs and make slits and keep it ready.
Finely chop onions, tomatoes and slit green chillies
Heat oil and temper with mustard and urad dal.
Once it browns add the finely chopped onions and slit green chillies and saute for 1 minute.
Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
Add the tomatoes and saute till mushy
Then add all masala along with salt.
Add little water and allow it to boil till raw smell of masalas goes and all water is absorbed
Add the slit eggs and mix with masala.
Switch off and garnish with coriander leaves
Delicious and yummy egg masala is ready.
