Fried Chana dal is a spicy, crispy, and crunchy snack made with chana dal(Bengal gram) and spices.

Ingredients
Chana Dal 3 cups
Salt as required
Red chilli powder 2-3 tsp
Pepper powder ½ tsp optional
Chaat Masala 1 tsp optional
Oil for deep frying
Instructions
Wash and soak chana dal for 3-4 hours.
After 4 hours, drain the water completely in a colander for 30 minutes.
Then spread it on a cloth to remove the moisture.
Heat oil in a Kadai and fry the chana dal in batches.
Fry till crispy and golden.
Drain them in kitchen tissue.
While it is warm, add the salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala and mix.
Fried chana dal is ready.
Air Fryer Method
Preheat the air fryer at 190°C for 3 minutes.
Once the chana dal is dried, coat it with 1-2 tsp of oil and spread in parchment paper
Air Fry them for 12-15 minutes till it is crispy. shake them 2-3 times in between to cook evenly.
While it is warm, add the salt, red chili powder, chaat masala, and mix.
Air Fried chana dal namkeen is ready.
Notes
Chaat masala can be substituted with amchur powder.Adjust the spices according to your preference.Chana dal should be completely dry before deep frying to avoid splitting in hot oil. I used parchment paper while air frying otherwise chana dal may slip down in the holes. For baking use the same method as air frying and adjust the timing accordingly to your oven.
