Ghee Rice Recipe

Learn how to make aromatic and delicious ghee rice. Ghee rice is simple and flavorful rice made with ghee.

Ingredients

  • Basmati rice 1 cup
  • Green chillies 1
  • Cashews handful
  • Cinnamon small piece
  • Cloves 3-4
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Ghee 2-3 tbsp
  • Garam masala ¼ tsp
  • Water 1 ½ cup
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions

  • Soak the basmati rice for 3 hours. Wash and drain the water and keep it ready.
  • Heat ghee and temper with cinnamon and cloves. Then add cashews and saute till golden.
  • Now add the slit green chillies and saute it.
  • Then add the washed rice and saute for 1-2 minutes without breaking.
  • Now add salt and garam masala and mix
  • Add 1 ½ cup of water and mix it nicely
  • Check the seasoning and close the lid.
  • Cook for one whistle and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Switch off the flame, release the pressure and open the cooker
  • Fluff up the rice and mix
  • Transfer to serving bowl and serve hot

Notes

You can cook in pan or cook the rice separately
You can add onions while sauteing
Use good quality Basmati rice so grains are separate
