Homemade Nannari Syrup Recipe | How to make Nannari Syrup in home

Nannari/Indian sarsaparilla is perfect coolant for the body in Summer.

Ingredients

  • Nannari root 50 grams
  • Sugar 1 ½ cup
  • Water 3 cups
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Instructions

  • Wash the nannari root 2-3 times in water and dry them.
  • Now using mortar and pestle crush the roots and remove the center white thick part and discard it.
  • Repeat the same and remove the center for all roots.
  • Now take the black part of root in mixer and powder them.
  • Boil water in pan.
  • Once it boils add the nannari root powder and switch off the flame
  • Close and keep it aside for 6-8 hours or overnight. I left it overnight.
  • Then filter the extract with fine mesh filter.
  • Add sugar to the filtered extract and mix well.
  • Start boiling the syrup in stove.
  • Boil it till it reaches thick consistency like honey and switch off the flame.
  • Allow it to cool down. Once it cools down add lemon juice to it and mix well.
  • Store in clean container and use it as required.
  • Flavorful homemade nannari syrup is ready.

Notes

Wash the roots nicely to remove all dirt
You can add less sugar and add extra while preparing too.
To prepare nannari syrup, mix 2-3 tbsp in one cup of water along with lemon juice.
It took me around 35-40 minutes to reach the consistency.
Filter extract in fine mesh so fine particles is removed too.
I didn't add any color but you can add some kesar or yellow color if you prefer.
