Kara Kozhukattai Recipe| Kara Pidi Kozhukattai Recipe

Ingredients

  • Rice flour ½ cup
  • Water 1.cup approx
  • Salt ¼ tsp
  • Coconut 2 tbsp

To temper

  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dal ¼ tsp
  • Chana dal 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli 2 broken
  • Hing ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves few

Instructions

  • Boil water in a vessel.
  • Take rice flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Add coconut to it.
  • Mix it till coconut is combined with flour.
  • Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, red chilli, chana dal, hing and curry leaves.
  • Once it browns add it to the flour.
  • Now add boiled water little by little and form a dough.
  • Shape the dough by pressing with your hands or in cylindrical shape.
  • Boil water in steamer or idli pan and steam the pidi kozhukattai.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes till it is soft.
  • Kara kozhukattai is ready.

Notes

Add generous amount of coconut for more taste.
Add onions while tempering and add to dough
