Curry leaves idli podi is condiment for idli, dosa or can be had with rice.

Ingredients

  • Curry leaves 2 cups
  • Chana dal ½ cup
  • Urad dal ½ cup
  • Red chillies 3
  • Hing ¼ tsp
  • Salt as required

Instructions

  • Wash and allow the curry leaves to dry for 1-2 days. You can dry roast them in pan if using immediately.
  • Dry roast the chana dal in a pan.
  • Roast them till golden and transfer to plate
  • Dry roast urad dal in the same pan.
  • Roast them till golden and transfer to plate
  • Roast the red chillies in the pan.
  • Once it cools down, transfer to mixer.
  • Add hing to the mixture
  • Then add dried curry leaves and salt.
  • Grind them coarsely.
  • Allow it to cool down and store in air tight container.
  • Karuveppillai idli podi is ready.
  • Enjoy them with piping hot idli.

Notes

Adjust the red chilli according to the spiciness you require. Measurement given is mild spicy for kids.
You can increase or decrease the amount of curry leaves used.
