Kovakkai Curry Recipe | Kovakkai Poriyal

Kovakkai curry is a simple and quick South Indian-style side dish made with ivy gourd.

Ingredients

  • Kovakkai 300 grams
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Mustard ½ tsp
  • Urad dal ½ tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Sundal Podi 1.5-2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves few.

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the tindora lengthwise
  • Heat oil and temper with mustard, curry leaves, and urad dal.
  • Once it browns add the sliced kovakkai.
  • Add salt to it and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then sprinkle water, close the lid and allow it to cook.
  • Once it is cooked, add the sundal masala powder
  • Give a quick stir and saute for few minutes and switch off the flame
  • Kovakkai curry is ready.

Notes

You can cut them lengthwise or round.
Sundal podi will make this curry more flavorful
