Lachha Paratha Recipe | How to make Lachha Paratha

Lachha Paratha is flaky layered flat bread made with whole wheat flour.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour 2 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Ghee/Oil 1 tbsp + extra for rolling and drizzling
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Water as required

Instructions

  • Take wheat flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.
  • Add oil to it and mix it with your finger tips
  • Then add water slowly and knead to smooth dough
  • Stretch and knead nicely for 8-10 minutes till the dough is soft and pliable.
  • Apply little oil on top and keep it covered for 15 mins to half an hour.
  • Then knead for two minutes and make small balls and flatten them.
  • Roll into big circle and brush it with oil on top and sprinkle some flour.
  • Then start making pleats. Make small pleats as possible to get many layers.
  • Once you make pleats pull and roll into circle.
  • Keep it aside and repeat the same for rest of the dough.
  • Take each rolled dough and dust it with little flour or oil if required.
  • Roll them gently to medium thickness.
  • Heat tawa and once it is hot transfer the rolled paratha.
  • Flip the paratha, apply some oil/ghee and cook till it is golden and all layers are cooked.
  • Lachha paratha is ready.
  • Serve it with any gravy of your choice.

Notes

You can use milk for kneading which makes it more soft.
Don't apply too much pressure while rolling to keep the layers intact
You can use ghee instead of oil
Cook them slowly in medium flame to make sure it is properly cooked
