Lemon Poha Recipe | Lemon Aval Recipe

Lemon poha is one of the quick and easy recipe made with poha/aval/flattened rice.

Ingredients

  • Poha ½ cup
  • Lemon 1.medium or 2 tsp juice
  • Green chilli 1
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Mustard ½ tsp
  • Urad dal ½ tsp
  • Chana dal 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Hing 2 pinch
  • Peanuts 1 tbsp optional

Instructions

  • Wash and soak aval in little water till immersed for 2 minutes. squeeze the water and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, chana dal, hing and curry leaves.
  • Once it browns add the finely chopped green chilli, salt and turmeric powder.
  • Add soaked aval and give a quick saute till combined and switch off the flame.
  • Now add the lime juice and mix.
  • Lemon poha is ready.

Notes

I used thin variety of aval so soaked just for 2 minutes. Be careful otherwise it will turn mushy.
If you use thick variety of aval you can soak for 5-10 minutes.
Adjust the lime juice according to the tanginess you prefer.
Skip green chilli and add whole red chillies if you prefer.
Peanuts will add nice crunch. This time I didn't have stock so skipped it. But I always prefer to add it.
