Milk Powder Gulab Jamun Recipe

Learn how to make Gulab Jamun from scratch using milk powder.

Ingredients

  • Milk powder 1.5 cups
  • Ghee 1.5 tbsp
  • Curd 3 tbsp
  • Maida 3 tbsp
  • Baking soda 3 pinches
  • Salt ⅛ tsp

Sugar Syrup

  • Water 1 cup
  • Sugar 1 ½ cup
  • Cardamom powder 1 tsp

Instructions

  • Boil water and sugar in a pan.
  • Once it melts add the cardamom powder.
  • Boil for 5-6 minutes till the sugar syrup is thick. Sugar syrup should be sticky.
  • Take milk powder, maida, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
  • Add ghee to it and mix it with finger tips.
  • Then add curd to it and mix.
  • Sprinkle little water to form smooth dough.
  • Grease your hands with ghee/oil and make small smooth round balls out of the dough.
  • Heat oil and drop the balls slowly.
  • Fry in medium flame flipping frequently so it is cooked evenly.
  • Drain in kitchen tissue and immediately add to sugar syrup.
  • Allow it to soak for 6 hours or overnight.
  • Delicious Milk Powder Gulab Jamun is ready.

Notes

Don't knead the dough much as it will make the gulab jamun harder. Also gently make the balls without any cracks.
Fry in medium to low flame as otherwise jamun will become darker and not cooked inside.
You can add rose essence to syrup for more flavor.
Allow it to soak overnight for jamuns to become double and nicely absorb the sugar syrup.
Use good quality milk powder.
