Paruppu Podi Recipe | Andhra Style Paruppu Podi | Kandi Podi

Paruppu podi is a spicy condiment made with toor dal.

Ingredients

  • Toor dal 1.5 cups
  • Cumin seeds 2 tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Hing ½ tsp
  • Red chilli 12-15

Instructions

  • Dry roast toor dal in low flame till golden brown in color
  • Then dry roast cumin seeds till aromatic
  • Then roast red chilli till crisp
  • Transfer all roasted ingredients to plate and allow to cool down.
  • Take them in mixer along with salt and hing.
  • Grind them to fine powder.
  • Cool down and store in air tight container.
  • Paruppu podi is ready. Serve it with hot rice and ghee

Notes

Adjust the red chilli according to the spiciness required
You can add some peppercorns along with cumin seeds while roasting.
Roast the dal in low flame. Make sure you don't burn the dal.
