Pumpkin Poori Recipe | Yellow Pumpkin Poori | Parangikai Poori

Pumpkin Poori is variation of normal poori with the addition of yellow pumpkin and spices.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour 2 cups
  • Pumpkin 1 cup chopped
  • Green chilli 1
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Garam masala ¼ tsp
  • Cumin powder ½ tsp
  • Ajwain ½ tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Water as required
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • Boil pumpkin with ¾ cup of water till soft.
  • Allow it to cool down and take it in mixer along with green chilli.
  • Grind to smooth paste.
  • Take wheat flour in a bowl.
  • Add pumpkin paste, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder and ajwain.
  • Mix everything together and add little water to form dough.
  • Now add oil to it and knead
  • Knead nicely for 8-10 minutes till it is smooth and pliable.
  • Cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • Take small balls and flatten them as round discs.
  • Heat oil in pan and when it is hot drop the poori.
  • Press it with spoon on the sides so it puffs up.
  • Turn and cook for few seconds and remove them.
  • Spicy Pumpkin Poori is ready. Serve it with any side dish of your choice.

Notes

Oil should be hot for poori to puff up. Once it puff up maintain the same flame.
Roll the poori neither too thin or too thick.
I added spices to balance the sweet taste of pumpkin
Add 1 tsp red chilli powder instead of green chilli
