Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe | Kara Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe

Spicy Ammini kozhukattai is steamed rice flour balls tempered with spices.

Ingredients

  • Rice flour ½ cup
  • Water 1 cup approx
  • Salt as required
  • Gingely oil 1 tsp
  • Coconut 2 tbsp
  • Sambar powder ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp

To temper

  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Mustard ½ tsp
  • Urad dal ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli 2
  • Hing two pinches
  • Curry leaves few

Instructions

  • Boil water in a pan
  • Take rice flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Add boiled water little by little to flour and mix to form dough.
  • Once it is warm to handle grease your hands with oil and knead to form smooth dough applying little oil.
  • Make small round balls from the dough and keep it ready.
  • Steam the balls for 10-15 minutes in steamer or your idli pot
  • Heat oil and temper with ingredients given under temper.
  • Then add turmeric powder, salt and sambar powder and mix.
  • Now add the steamed rice flour balls and coat it with masala.
  • Finally add the grated coconut and toss it together.
  • Spicy ammini Kozhukattai is ready.

Notes

Add water little by little and use as required. Always cover the dough when not using to prevent from drying.
You can use idli podi instead of sambar powder too.
