Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe | Kara Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Spicy Ammini kozhukattai is steamed rice flour balls tempered with spices. Ammini kozhukattai is also called as mani kozhukattai or mini kozhukattai. There are different variations of ammini kozhukattai with both sweet and savory versions. I am sharing simple and quick version where I have used sambar powder. Some will add freshly grounded masala too. This is quick after school snack recipe for kids.
We make this on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. When you have some leftover idiyappam dough from morning, you can quickly prepare this as snacks for evening. This is second week of Mega blogging Marathon where we need to showcase snacks from particular Indian State. I have chosen my home state of Tamilnadu. Though I have all the dishes ready for this week, bit late in posting since my daughter was not ill. Lets move on to check how to make this simple ammini kozhukattai

Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe | Kara Ammini Kozhukattai Recipe
Ingredients
- Rice flour ½ cup
- Water 1 cup approx
- Salt as required
- Gingely oil 1 tsp
- Coconut 2 tbsp
- Sambar powder ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
To temper
- Oil 1 tsp
- Mustard ½ tsp
- Urad dal ¼ tsp
- Red chilli 2
- Hing two pinches
- Curry leaves few
Instructions
- Boil water in a pan
- Take rice flour and salt in a bowl.
- Add boiled water little by little to flour and mix to form dough.
- Once it is warm to handle grease your hands with oil and knead to form smooth dough applying little oil.
- Make small round balls from the dough and keep it ready.
- Steam the balls for 10-15 minutes in steamer or your idli pot
- Heat oil and temper with ingredients given under temper.
- Then add turmeric powder, salt and sambar powder and mix.
- Now add the steamed rice flour balls and coat it with masala.
- Finally add the grated coconut and toss it together.
- Spicy ammini Kozhukattai is ready.

How to make Spicy Ammini Kozhukattai with step by step pictures
