Broken wheat pongal is simple and quick breakfast recipe made with broken wheat and moong dal.

Ingredients
Broken wheat ½ cup
Moong dal ¼ cup
Water 2 ¼ cup
Turmeric powder ½ tsp optional
Salt 1 tsp or as required
To Temper
Ghee 1.5 tbsp
Cumin 1 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp crushed
Ginger 1 tsp finely chopped
Green chilli 2 optional
Curry leaves few
Hing ¼ tsp
Cashews 8-10 optional
Instructions
Heat ghee in pressure cooker and add cumin, pepper, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, hing and cashews if using
once it browns add water and allow it to boil
Now add turmeric powder and salt.
Once it boils add washed moong dal and dhaliya.
Close the lid and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure releases open the lid and mix it.
Broken wheat pongal is ready
Notes
I skipped green chilli and cashews since I didn't have them in stock. But I love those flavors and add them regularly. You can add some hot water to adjust consistency if it is too dry after opening the cooker. I didn't use any extra water. You can use combination of oil and ghee or only ghee. Adding turmeric powder is optional
