Spinach Pulao Recipe | Palak Pulao Recipe | How to make Spinach Pulao

Spinach Pulao is healthy and nutritious one pot recipe which can be prepared in less than 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Spinach/Palak 1.5 cups
  • Basmati rice 1 cup
  • Onion 1
  • Green chilli 2
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Mint leaves ¼ cup optional
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp optional
  • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala ¼ tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp or as required
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Ghee 2 tsp
  • Bay leaves 1
  • Cinnamon small stick
  • Cardamom 1
  • Cloves 3
  • Water 1.5 cups

Instructions

  • Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep it ready.
  • Wash the greens spinach, mint and coriander leaves. Take them in mixer. Add green chilli to it.
  • Grind them to smooth puree adding few drops of water.
  • Heat ghee and oil. Temper with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bay leaf.
  • Once it browns add the finely chopped onions and saute for few seconds.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
  • Then add the spinach puree and allow it to boil.
  • Then add salt, turmeric powder and garam masala. Saute nicely for 5 mins.
  • Then add water and allow it to boil.
  • Once it boils add the washed rice.
  • Chek for seasoning and close the lid. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and 5 minutes in low flame.
  • Once the pressure releases open the lid and gently mix the rice.
  • Yummy and delicious spinach rice is ready.

Notes

You can use normal rice instead of basmati rice. Use 2 cups of water for normal rice.
Increase the green chilli according to your preference.
You can skip mint and coriander leaves and use only spinach.
