Spicy Mixture recipe | South Indian Mixture recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Mixture is one of the popular snacks recipe which everyone loves to eat. Mixture as the name implies is the combination of different ingredients like omapodi/sev, boondi, nuts, poha, green gram, dried fruits, peanuts, curry leaves etc. There are different varieties of mixture and one I am posting here is basic one and we can add any variations to it. I made this for diwali with the ingredients available in my kitchen.
You can make Omapodi and Boondi previous day to make the process simple. Amount of each one can be increased or decreased as per our choice. You can use leftover murukku, ribbon pakoda or kara sev and add to the mixture. Store them in air tight container and enjoy as tea time snack. Do try and let me know your feedback. Ingredients
- Boondi 300 grams
- Omapodi 250 grams
- Cashews 1/4 cup
- Roasted gram dal 1/4 cup
- Peanuts 1/4 cup
- Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves 1/4 cup
- Broken murukku handful
- Broken ribbon pakoda handful
Instructions
- Prepare plain Boondi as per the recipe and keep it ready. Avoid the tempering with garlic, cashews, peanuts as we will add it here.
- Prepare the Omapodi/Sev as per the recipe
- Fry the roasted gram dal, cashews, peanuts in oil. Fry curry leaves in the same oil.
- Use your big sieve and fry them. So it is easy to remove them from oil. You can shallow fry them with little oil too.
- Take all the ingredients in a wide bowl
- Add red chilli powder, salt and asafoetida and mix.
- Spicy mixture is ready
- Store in air tight container and enjoy with Tea/Coffee
