Tomato Soup Recipe | How to make Tomato Soup recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Tomato soup is one of the simple and most common vegetarian soup. It is very easy to make restaurant style tomato soup with very few ingredients in home. Use the most ripe and juicy tomatoes for good taste. Adding a piece of beetroot or carrot gives vibrant color. You can skip them too. Consistency of the soup is personal preference and we always like to have it neither too thin nor too thick.
Adding cream makes it more rich and taste similar to what we get in restaurant. I am not really so fond of soups and very rarely order them when we go outside. My hubby likes soups and I will make it for my kids or whenever some guests are visiting. Tomato Soup is my first option when I have some vegetarian guests. This is my first entry under soups and stews theme in this week Blogging Marathon.

Tomato Soup Recipe | How to make Tomato Soup
Ingredients
- Tomato 2 big
- Onion 1 small
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Beetroot/Carrot small piece optional
- Oil 2 tsp
- Water 2 ½ cup
- Sugar ¼ tsp optional
- Corn flour 1 tsp
- Salt as required
- Pepper powder as required
- Bread 3-4 pieces optional
- Ghee for toasting bread.
Instructions
- Finely chop the garlic, onion and tomatoes
- Heat oil in the pan.
- Add finely chopped garlic and onions and saute for 1 min.
- Then add chopped tomatoes and saute.
- Then add chopped beetroot to it.
- Add ½ cup water and allow it to boil.
- Cook till tomatoes are mushy and all water is absorbed.
- Cool down and transfer to mixer
- Grind to smooth paste
- Add two cups of water and filter the tomato paste to have smooth silky texture.
- Now heat the tomato puree in the pan
- Take corn flour and mix it with water without lumps. Add this mixture to tomato soup to thicken.
- Then add salt, pepper powder and sugar.
- Allow the soup to boil for 3-4 minutes and switch off the flame.
- Garnish with bread croutons and enjoy them.
