This is the first tried and tasted dish with broccoli and very simple and easy to make. Broccoli has lot of health benefits and contains vitamin C and vitamin K. It belongs to cabbage family and looks similar to cauliflower. Nowadays I try lot of things with broccoli as I get them almost every week.
Broccoli stir fry is crunchy side dish where broccoli is simply cooked with spices. You can add ginger garlic paste or crushed garlic/ginger to add more flavor to the dish. Ingredients
- Onion 1
- Broccoli 1 medium sized
- Red chilli powder 3/4 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp or as required
- Garam masala 1/2 tsp
- Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
- Mustard 1/2 tsp
- Cumin 1/2 tsp
- Oil 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves to garnish
Instructions
- Wash and clean the broccoli and keep it ready.
- Heat oil and add mustard and cumin seeds.
- Once it browns add the onions and saute for 2-3 minutes
- Now add the broccoli and saute for 1 minute till it shrinks.
- Add salt, red chilli powder and garam masala and mix
- Now add little water
- Cover and cook for 5 minutes
- Open the lid and check if broccoli is cooked and water is absorbed.
- Add pepper powder and saute for few seconds
- Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves
- Serve Broccoli stir fry with rice.
Notes
You can add ginger garlic paste for flavor
You can add green chillies for taste too
You can skip red chilli powder and use only pepper too.
Don't over cook the broccoli. It needs to be crunchy.
