Green peas masala Recipe | Matar Masala | Creamy green peas curry recipe with step-by-step pictures and instructions. Green peas masala is a creamy and delicious side dish made with green peas. It goes well with roti, phulkas, naan, jeera rice or pulao. You can use fresh or frozen green peas.

Sending this to FoodieMondayBloghop theme #298NorthIndianCurries suggested by Swaty. She suggested making some dry or gravy-type North Indian subzi. She made my favorite jack fruit curry. My contribution to the theme is this green peas masala. You can also make Broccoli gravy, kadai vegetable, or Dal fry as a side dish to roti/naan.

Green peas masala Recipe | Matar Masala | Creamy green peas curry
Ingredients
- Peas 1 cup
- Onions 2
- Tomato 2
- Garlic 6-8
- Ginger 1 tbsp chopped
- Cashews 2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Coriander powder ½ tsp
- Garam masala ¾ tsp
- Turmeric powder ½ tsp
- Cumin powder ¼ tsp
- Kasuri methi 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves 1 tbsp finely chopped
- Oil 1 tbsp
- Bay leaf 1
- Star anise 1
- Cloves 2-3
- Cinnamon small stick
Instructions
- Heat ½ tbsp oil in a pressure cooker and saute onions, tomato, cashews, ginger, and garlic
- Saute them for 4-5 minutes and allow them to cool down and take in the mixer.
- Grind to smooth paste.
- In the same pressure cooker add remaining oil and temper with bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves and star anise.
- Then add the grounded masala and saute for 3-4 minutes.
- Then add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and cumin powder and give a quick mix.
- Add required water to it.
- Finally add the green peas and close the cooker.
- Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
- Once the pressure releases open the cooker.
- Garnish with kasuri methi and finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Creamy and delicious green peas masala is ready.
- Serve it with roti, phulka, chapati or jeera rice.
