Murukku Flour Recipe | Murukku Maavu | How to make Murukku flour in home recipe with step by step pictures. Murukku is one of the crispy and crunchy snacks made during Diwali or simply as tea time snacks in home. There are so many different ways of making murukku using rice flour, roasted gram dal, besan flour etc. I am sharing one of the simple way to make murukku flour.

It is very easy to make murukku maavu in home with just three ingredients rice, urad dal and roasted gram dal. It takes only 5 minutes of your time. We need to get it grinded in mill because grinding in mixer may not be fine as we are not soaking rice. We can use it for making murukku, seedai and thattai. It can be stored in airtight container for 6 months.

Ingredients

  • Idli Rice 1 kg
  • Urad dal 100 grams
  • Roasted gram dal/Pottukadalai 100 grams

Instructions

  1. Take urad dal in a pan.
  2. Dry roast them till golden and aromatic.
  3. Measure and take roasted gram dal.
  4. Combine idli rice, urad dal and pottukadai together.
  5. Grind the maavu in mill.
  6. Allow it to cool down and store in air tight container.
  7. Homemade Murukku flour is ready.

Notes

Use good quality idli rice since we are using as such without soaking.

You can wash the rice and completely dry in sun if there is any dust in the rice.

This keeps well for six months.

You can grind a big batch and make murukku as and when required.
