    Egg Frankie recipe | Egg kathi roll | Egg wraps Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Egg Kathi roll is one of the popular street food from Kolkata. Roti is stuffed with eggs, veggies, sauce and rolled. These are called by different names like rolls, frankie or wraps. There are so many different varieties of stuffing we can make and customize it according to our taste. 

    This is very quick to make when you have some leftover chapati dough. Whenever I am bored of making some side dish, I will make this for dinner. Vegetarians can skip the eggs and make veg kathi rolls. You can make this for quick breakfast, lunch, dinner or evening snacks. This is quite filling and easy to make too. I will be sharing three different wraps and rolls as part of blogging marathon this week. Lets check how to make this delicious and quick egg wraps.

    Egg Frankie recipe | Egg kathi roll | Egg wraps Recipe

    Egg Kathi roll is one of the popular street food from Kolkata
    Prep Time 15 minutes minutes
    Cook Time 15 minutes minutes
    Total Time 30 minutes minutes

    Ingredients

    • Wheat flour 1 cup
    • Salt as required
    • Oil 1 tsp
    • Water as required
    • Onions 1 small sliced
    • Green chutney as required
    • Tomato sauce as required
    • Chaat masala to sprinkle
    • Amchur powder to sprinkle

    Stuffing

    • Cabbage ½ cup sliced
    • Carrot 1 small
    • Capsicum ½
    • Eggs 2
    • Red chilli powder ½ tsp
    • Pepper powder ½ tsp
    • Salt as required
    • Oil 2 tsp

    Egg Mixture

    • Egg 2
    • Salt as required
    • Pepper powder ½ tsp

    Instructions

    • Take wheat flour in bowl and add salt
    • Then add water little by little and knead to form dough.
    • Add oil now and knead for minutes till dough is soft, smooth and pliable.
    • Slice the vegetables lengthwise and boil the eggs, remove the shell, cut them and keep it ready.
    • Break two eggs and add salt, pepper powder
    • Whisk the eggs nicely and keep it ready.
    • Heat oil and add all the vegetables.
    • Saute them for few minutes and add red chilli powder, pepper powder and salt.
    • Saute in high flame till veggies are crunchy and add the boiled eggs.
    • Mix and switch off the flame. Stuffing is ready now.
    • Roll the dough like chapati in medium thickness.
    • Heat kadai and cook the rolled chapati.
    • Cook them on both sides.
    • Add the egg mixture on one of the cooked side.
    • Carefully flip and cook till it is done.
    • Place the cooked roti with egg side up and add the stuffing to it.
    • Add sliced onions on top of it
    • Add some green chutney, tomoto sauce and sprinkle chaat masala and amchur powder on the top.
    • First fold one side and then fold the parallel side to lock it and roll the rest. Wrap in foil or parchment paper.
    • Egg Kathi roll is ready.

    Notes

    You can skip the vegetables and use only eggs for stuffing.
    You can skip the green chutney and tomato sauce and make it simple too.
    You can use scrambled eggs instead of boiled ones for stuffing.
    Adjust the spices, sauce according to your preference.
    You can make three rolls with the quantity of the stuffing.
    Use the leftover roti dough and make it quickly.

    How to make Egg Kathi Roll with step by step pictures

      Good idea about the egg layer inside the roll, I would have thought it would be just the boiled eggs. A filling meal for sure!
