Thala Guli Recipe | Srilankan Sesame Balls/Rolls
Thala Guli Recipe | Srilankan Sesame Balls/Rolls recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Thala Guli is Srilankan sweet recipe made with coconut, sesame seeds and jaggery. It is one of the very popular sweets available locally in Sri Lanka. Thala means sesame seeds in Sinhalese. This may closely resemble the sesame seeds ladoo we make but taste and procedure is little different.
One of the quick and simple recipe to make and it hardly takes 20 minutes to make this delicious sweet. This is one of my mom’s favorite sweet. Traditionally they use mortar and pestle to pound the sesame seeds and roll them as balls or cylindrical rolls. You can use fresh or desiccated coconut for the recipe. Desiccated coconut gives more shelf life.
Theme for this week in Foodie Monday Blog hop group is #279SesameSeeds suggested by Mayuri who blogs at mayuris-jikoni. Check out interesting Italian sesame seeds cookies and many innovative recipes from her blog. My contribution to the theme is this simple and quick Srilankan Sesame balls.
