Wheat appam Recipe | Instant Wheat Flour appam Recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Wheat appam is made with wheat flour, jaggery and banana. Traditionally they will soak rice, grind and make sweet appam. This is an instant version we make with wheat flour. Banana gives soft texture to appam. They usually fry them in ghee but I preferred the method of using paniyaram pan. so you can enjoy these treats guilt free.
You can make these for festivals, occasions or quick evening snacks. I made these for krishna Jayanthi. You can even make these for school snacks box. Add some grated coconut for nice flavor. You can fry in ghee for kids. Lets quickly check how to make these instant wheat appam.

Wheat appam Recipe | Instant Wheat Flour appam Recipe
Ingredients
- Wheat flour ½ cup
- Rice flour 1 tbsp
- Banana 1 small
- Jaggery ⅓ cup
- Water 2-3 tbsp + extra for batter
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
- Baking soda 2 pinch
- Oil or ghee for roasting
Instructions
- Take jaggery in a pan along with water.
- Allow it to boil till it melts and filter to remove impurities and keep it ready.
- Mash the banana.
- Take all the ingredients in a bowl.
- Add water little by little and mix to form batter.
- Consistency should be thick like panniyaram batter.
- Heat pan and drizzle with oil/ghee
- Pour the batter in each hole and allow it to cook for one minute.
- Then flip the appam and cook till golden.
- Remove and enjoy them hot.

How to make Instant Wheat Appam with step by step pictures
